WorldChanging: Update From Ian Bryan

WorldChanging Heats Up

Go back to April of 2017. We were midway through logging a documentary film project for 7 Mindsets, and I found myself glued to the screen, scrubbing through video of the same interview over and over.

Like many of our on-location shoots, this project was filmed in a school. And while educators almost always grab me by the heart, this one had me by the head as well. I kept thinking “this message is so much bigger than its impact on any one school.”

My words wouldn’t do him any justice, so here are 4 minutes of Joe:

Jail-Breaking Ideas & Approaches

WorldChanging emerged through many distinct moments, but that day in the Arizona desert acted as a pressure-cooker for the inspiration that wanted to take on a form.

We had been poking around how to build a platform that could amplify the models and approaches stemming from extraordinary projects, people, and ideas. How do we get the work and ideas of John HuntersRichard Barretts, Marko Kasics, Barbara AllensChristi GrahamsThomas Ermacoras, Ashara Ekundayos, and countless others out there?

While shaping WorldChanging, I began to rebel against many of my own mainstays. TED, Aspen Ideas, SXSW, others. I knew that it would be crucial to find the hidden gems who are not flying from stage to stage. We started looking elsewhere and it wasn’t long before I accepted an invitation to the NEXUS Global Summit in July, hosted by the United Nations and the New School in New York.

Starting with an unscripted gathering of social entrepreneurs and young philanthropists that took place on a park bench in front of UNHQ, the three days that followed were a free-fall of exposure to brilliant, high-impact, WorldChanging people, projects, and ideas.

Therefore it is by coincidence and by design that we launch WorldChanging in the same week that we kick off a media partnership at the NEXUS Latin America & Carribean Forum.

We’ll See You At NEXUS

The 2017 NEXUS Latin America & Caribbean Forum will convene on 10 & 11 December 2017 in Miami, Florida. It will bring together young philanthropists, impact investors, and allies – including family business members, successful entrepreneurs, and inspiring social change leaders. They will discuss challenges facing our world today and innovative solutions to address them.

Connecting the financial, intellectual, creative and social capital of our generation in an action-oriented, solutions-focused and safe space, the NEXUS Latin American & Caribbean Forum aims to inspire learning and collaboration between a uniquely powerful network of peers.

Just ahead of this event, we’ll be turning on the lights at www.world-changing.com. In January, we’ll populate the online media platform and distribute our first complete issue (WorldChanging membership includes the quarterly magazine) of WorldChanging, with coverage of the people and projects that stood out most at NEXUS LAM. With our 13-episode WorldChanging series broadcast now approved for distribution, we’ll be releasing our first trailer in February, and in March we’ll open the floodgates for WorldChanging Institute.

In the mean time, I’d love to hear from you. ian [-at-] ianbryan {.} com.
